4 – 5 November 2020, Lima, Peru- The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) New York Office participated in the “X Virtual Educa Multilateral Forum” within the framework of the XXI Virtual Educa Peru meeting, represented by UNITAR Head of New York Office, , who serves as president of the Advisory Council of Virtual Educa.
On the first day of the Forum, Mr. Suazo, convened special remarks in the Virtual Educa Board Meeting, chaired by Dr. Heitor Gurgulino de Sousa, President of Virtual Educa. Dr. Gurgulino is President of the World Academy of Arts and Sciences, Former Rector of the United Nations University in Tokyo, Japan and a leading member of the Club of Rome.
On the second day, after the official opening of the forum, Mr. Suazo chaired the session, ‘The 2030 Agenda: Education and Development of Human Capital for Social Innovation – New Models’. The session aimed to discuss new educational models and their implications, premised on the job loss due to technological advancements, as well as new skills required for emerging professions.
Participants of the panel included Mr. Dominic Savage, President, Education World Forum; Mr. Roberto Heycher, Executive Director of Civic Education and National Coordinator of ENCCIVICA, National Electoral Institute (INE); Dr. Germán Anzola, Rector, University of Applied and Environmental Sciences – President of the Association of Universities of Latin America and the Caribbean AUALCPI; Mr. Roberto Martínez Yllescas, Director of the OECD Center in Mexico for Latin America and Mr. Santiago Reyes, Worldwide Solutions, Intel.
The forum concluded on Friday 8th of November, with a session focused on Planet 2030, which aimed to build bridges during the last decade of the implementation of the SDG goals.
